This bookshop specializes in a wide-ranging collection focusing on Palestinian history, culture, conflict, and identity. • About eight months ago, the bookshop was raided twice by Israeli authorities, with 300 books confiscated, arrests made, and temporary closures imposed. • Confiscations were based on covers, keywords (“Palestine”, “apartheid”, “Gaza”, etc.), images (flags, graffiti), and superficial translations; many titles were misidentified or misunderstood by authorities unfamiliar with Arabic or English. • Some books, including critical works or even Israeli newspapers, were seized due to misunderstandings.
